"THE NEED FOR DIAPERS IS A SILENT CRISIS IN THE UNITED STATES.

MOST AMERICANS WHO HAVE NOT FACED THIS

STRUGGLE DO NOT KNOW THE PROBLEM EXISTS."

We are working with Galveston Diaper Bank to

raise awareness of this silent crisis among the

poor and low-income in our community.

Sandy Miller, Diaper Drive Chair

invites everyone to  participate in this Mitzvah by sending a donation to:

Congregation Beth Jacob

 PO Box 750, Galveston 77553

Please Note on Your Check

"Diaper Drive"

or you can bring diapers to the Shul

 2410 Avenue K

Galveston, TX 77550.

DID YOU KNOW?

Low-income parents sometimes miss work, school or job training

because they can't afford diapers for their children.

Day care centers - even free or subsidized ones -

will turn away children if parents can't provide

a day's supply of disposable diapers.

Depending on age, babies need 8 to 12 diapers a day,

at an average monthly cost of $100.

Babies born into poor or low-income families can spend

a day or longer in the same diaper, leading to potential health risks, including severe rash and urinary tract infections.

Diapers cannot be purchased with Food Stamps.

CBJ is responding to the need for diapers in Galveston County

by collecting diapers and donations to buy diapers

Your thoughtful awareness and generous donations

will make a concrete difference in a parent's and child's life.

On December 22 CBJ made the second donation of diapers that were collected as the Shul's Hanukkah Project.  to date the Shul has donated more than 4200 diapers to the CDB.
